The kooky and iconic Mosswood Meltdown music festival will return to Oakland again in July 2026. Hosted by legendary filmmaker John Waters, the festival has had a reputation for being offbeat, not like the other music festivals, while boasting some of the biggest names in alternative music.
“Some call it ‘The Warped Woodstock’ or ‘An Asshole-free Altamont’ while others holler ‘Coachella, Go-To Hella,’” said Waters. “We’re Mosswood Meltdown and we’re going to lose our musical marbles again this year.”
Organizers announced Tuesday that the festival’s pre-party, taking place on July 17th, will include indie rock legends Pavement and Vivian Girls as well as beloved bootgaze band Wednesday.
Tickets for the pre-party go on sale today. The entire festival lineup is still TBA, with separate ticket sale.
