Humilitarian Live in Philly

Posted: by The Alt Editing Staff

Humilitarian packed out Johnny Brenda’s for their Intra release show on 2/27, and the energy in the room was undeniable. Elephant Jake kicked things off, getting the growing crowd dancing, and Grocer followed with a riveting set that locked everyone in. When Humilitarian took the stage to run through their new LP front to back, the place was fully dialed in.

Released on 2/21, Intra showcases the band—Kira Cappello (vocals & lyrics), Brendan Clarke (guitar), Charlie D’Ardenne (guitar), Eli Glovas-Kurtz (drums & auxiliary percussion), and Tucker Pendleton (bass)—at their sharpest. The album came together across multiple Philly-area studios, with drums, bass, and guitar tracked at Headroom (Clifton Heights, PA) by Chance Cypress, vocals and additional guitar recorded at Jamtown (Philly) by Nick Cislak, more guitar at Hush House (Philly) by Parker Drew, and auxiliary percussion at Dusted Audio (Philly) by Eli Glovas-Kurtz. Chance Cypress handled mixing, and Adam Cichocki at Timber Studios did the mastering, tying it all together. The album’s artwork, designed by Colin Frangicetto, feels like the perfect fit for the record’s sound.

Live, these songs hit even harder. Humilitarian played Intra with the kind of energy that makes you remember why live music is the best way to experience an album. The crowd was all in from start to finish, and if this show was any indication, Intra is just the start of a big year for them.
