Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood performed a hourlong Facebook Live concert on Monday evening (March 23) that reportedly crashed the platform, with 3.4 million viewers tuning in for the couple’s performance.
The show included humorous conversation between the pair as well as a spirited duet of “Shallow.” When Brooks asked if there were any requests for duets and was told about the song from A Star Is Born, he looked confused for a moment. “You mean Lady Gaga and [Bradley] Cooper?” he asked.
“I mean it’s my fantasy,” Trisha Yearwood said. “Should I have said that? I’m sorry.”
After a good laugh, Yearwood asked her husband if he wanted her to do Cooper’s part and he sing Lady Gaga’s. Strumming an acoustic guitar, Brooks began the song singing Cooper’s lines. The pair effortlessly harmonized throughout the song as they leaned close to one another on the chorus.
“I felt connected last night, we’re ALL in this together. Thank YOU for that… and for this surprising song request!! love, g,” Brooks wrote following a post of the video on his Facebook page.
Brooks let fans know about the at home concert on social media Monday (March 23), asking for song requests. Highlights included covers of George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s “Golden Rings” and Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” as well as “Hallelujah” and Yearwood’s “Amazing Grace” and cover of Linda Ronstadt’s “Long, Long Time,” according to USA Today.
