Ahead of the release of their new record Greedy & gorgeous, Australian dolewave pop band Olivia’s World is premiering their second single “Empresário.” The track follows in the footsteps of the upcoming record as its soundscape flits between the wanders of the mind and something more carnal. Alice Rezende’s vocals tick alongside steady, growing verses before breaking off into heavy, howling instrumentals. The experience packed into “Empresário”’s runtime immerses one in the altered states that accompany the fun fantasy the song sets forth. If you enjoy the experimental likes of Liliput or noisy, melodic rock you’ll dig what Olivia’s World is cooking these days.
Here’s what Rezende had to say about “Empresário”:
“Empresário” is a fable fantasy I concocted while thinking about the modern fixation with the idea of manifestation. I decided I would manifest a band manager (an empresário, or businessman) by writing a song about him. In the song I am obsessed with him even though he’s not great for the business, and hardly comes to my shows. Let’s just say… manifestation works.
