Song Premiere: Bondo – “Triple Double”

Posted: by The Alt Editing Staff

Bondo caught my attention last year with their spectacular Print Selections. Their sound draws equally from the post-rock, slowcore, and post-hardcore scenes of the ’90s, and at various points throughout Print Selections you can hear where Tortoise, Acetone, or Fugazi might’ve influenced the LA quartet. Their songs rarely include vocals, but even still they command attention.

On their upcoming sophomore LP Harmonica, things feel even more fluid. The noisy “BG” sounds like it was written in a Louisville, KY, basement in ’94, and it leads directly into the groovy, tangly title track; “Headcleaner” sounds like a UK post-punk band covering Collective Soul’s “December” by ear. It’s the album’s closing cut, the five-minute hypnotic “Triple Double,” where the whole thing comes together; the song builds gently as it goes, swaying as though about to tumble over, but Bondo never lose control. Today we’re excited to bring you an exclusive premiere of that song and its music video. It’s a great introduction to Bondo if you’ve never heard them–and if you’re already a fan, it’s a glimpse into how much they’ve improved on Harmonica. Check it out below.
