Song Premiere: Abandoncy – “Scarlet Rot”

After two splits and a standalone single last year, Kansas City post-hardcore group Abandoncy will release their new album Assailable//Agonism in exactly one month. They play an abrasive, skronky style of noise rock that should appeal to fans of The Jesus Lizard, Quicksand, or some of Dischord’s ’90s releases. If that sounds too good to be true, fear not–we’ve got an exclusive premiere of Assailable//Agonism‘s lead single, “Scarlet Rot,” just below.

It’s a brutal, vicious song, grimy and heavy and unrelenting. The band notes that they chose it as the first single because they feel “Scarlet Rot” “sets the tone for the album, showing the band with their new, most-ferocious self.” It’s as caustic lyrically as it is sonically, too, taking to task “Ayn Rand individualists” who leave the world in ruin only looking out for themselves.
