Phoebe Bridgers Announces New Album 'Lost Weekend' and Single 'Lost Boys'

Phoebe Bridgers has officially signaled her return to the solo spotlight, announcing her first full-length studio effort in six years. Titled Lost Weekend, the project is preceded by the ethereal new single Phoebe Bridgers Lost Boys, a track that blends medieval imagery with the artist’s signature indie-folk sensibilities.

The single opens with a brief sequence of filtered vocals processed through a vocoder before Bridgers’ unmistakable voice takes center stage. “This machine is killing me / I pretended it was make believe,” she sings, accompanied by triumphant brass arrangements that recall the energy of her previous hit, “Kyoto.” The chorus is a euphoric exploration of the “lost boys” theme—characters who refuse to grow up or return home. “Lost boys find me,” she pleads in a moment of soaring melodic clarity.

The accompanying music video, directed by the creative duo of Lance Oppenheim and Pablo Rochat, presents a surrealist take on a Renaissance faire. In this dreamlike world, knights trade horses for motorcycles and actor Skyler Gisondo portrays a gas station attendant who finds himself transformed into a knight in shining armor. Bridgers herself appears as a mystical damsel, further leaning into the “medieval magic” aesthetic of the era.

Lost Weekend was produced by a powerhouse team including Bridgers, Jack Antonoff, and her longtime collaborators Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska. The album also features additional production from Alex G, the acclaimed Philadelphia singer-songwriter. The credits read like a directory of Bridgers’ inner circle: her boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker provide backing vocals, while Christian Lee Hutson contributes acoustic guitar. Other notable contributors include drummer Marshall Vore, guitarist Harrison Whitford, string arranger Rob Moose, and Bright Eyes members Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott.

Set for release on August 14 via Dead Oceans, Lost Weekend marks Bridgers’ first solo LP since the release of the career-defining Punisher in 2020. To support the new record, she will embark on “The Lost Tour,” beginning September 15 in Indianapolis. Maintaining her commitment to an immersive live experience, the tour will be entirely phoneless. Bridgers recently addressed the policy during a surprise performance at Madison Square Garden, telling the audience, “I’m trusting you” to keep the experience in the moment rather than on the internet.
