Olivia Wilde is receiving major backlash after seemingly dissing Taylor Swift‘s rumored romance with NFL star Travis Kelce.
Earlier this week, the Don’t Worry Darling actor posted a screenshot of a tweet from Westworld actress Katja Herbers. She wrote, “I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist.” Herbers later explained the meaning behind her viral tweet in a series of tweets, believing that the power of the Swifties, if used properly, could create some massive change for the environment.
“All Swifties hurriedly googling ‘climate emergency,'” she began. “Taylor would join her scientist at an end fossil fuels rally and the world would be saved.” She later spoke about the attention it received from “mainstream sugar coated celeb sauce” after Wilde shared her post.
Swifties came to the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer’s defense. with most people questioning why she would comment on her love life when they share the same ex-boyfriend, Harry Styles. You’ll recall that Swift and Styles dated between March 2012 and January 2013. Meanwhile, Wilde and Styles called it quits in November 2022 after almost two years of dating.
“She wasn’t worried about climate change when she was flying cross the country to go chase Harry lmao,” one user tweeted, seemingly referencing the actor and singer’s travel schedules where Wilde would visit him while on his international tour.
“I get it but like also…who is Olivia Wilde to say s–t. I don’t remember Harry Styles restoring the o-zone [layer] when they were dating,” another person commented.
Despite the Swifties defense, some people agreed with the statement or couldn’t believe that people even care this much to talk about it.
“I don’t even like Olivia Wilde but I think she was real for that! Y’all are BORED,” one user wrote.
Swift and Wilde previously showed support to one another back in May 2019. Swift shared an Instagram Story of Wilde’s film, Booksmart, to which she encouraged her followers to buy tickets to see, as she already had.
