Got something a little different today from Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist Jackson Welchner. Inspired by the longing and the tension that has seized us with an iron grip over the last year, Welchner’s The Distance is a dynamic slice of nu-jazz. Joined by Stuart Mein (Sly Why, Luge) and jazz trumpeter Kaelin Murphy, it’s a rollercoaster of bouncing synths, aggressive drums, and singing trumpets that soar from neighbourhood to neighbourhood.
The Distance is released through local label and community collective Plutoid Records and Welchner’s first on the label.
