EP Premiere: you’re the worst – ‘All the Little Things I Took for Granted’

Posted: by The Editor

Although self-described as ‘mall screamo,’ you’re the worst is a lot lighter that than tag might suggest. The band’s debut EP All the Little Things I Took for Granted leans closer to the heavy pop-punk of Set Your Goals or Four Year Strong than any Hot Topic hardcore. “Let Me Down” has a bracing, technical riff that recalls the most exciting moments on Enemy of the World, and “My Heart” and “For the Best” are some of the best straight-up pop-punk to drop in years.

Frontman Bob Godden shares:

All the Little Things I Took for Granted is ultimately about dealing with mental illness, specifically borderline personality and bipolar disorders, while processing a divorce and the relationships that follow. Understanding codependency, anxious attachments, and manipulative behavior completely unbeknownst to me after finding a good therapist has been the most healing journey and I wrote these songs to tell my story but to also let folks dealing with these issues that there is a better way. There is a brighter side of all this. There is a purpose for you. It just takes a little navigating to find.
