Aaron Tveit, 36, revealed on Monday morning (March 23) that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and has been in quarantine since Broadway shows shut down on March 12.
The good news is that the Moulin Rouge! star says he’s feeling “much better” and considers himself very lucky that his symptoms have been very mild, mostly like a cold with no fever. “One thing I have been experiencing is the loss of taste and smell, which I think is a big sign for people who are otherwise asymptotic,” he wrote. “I was tested last Monday, and just found out the results, however, I have been taking this situation extremely seriously, even before I was tested.”
They key message from Tveit, however, was that the novel coronavirus that has killed more than 460 Americans while infecting nearly 39,000 can “affect anyone. And even if you aren’t feeling sick or showing drastic symptoms — please take heed, stay safe, stay healthy and I hope to see everyone at the theater again soon.”
Tveit is the latest figure in the entertainment world to discuss a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, joining opera singer Placido Domingo, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan, Testament singer Chuck Billy, singer-songwriter Charlotte Lawrence, producer Andrew Watt, gospel singer Sandi Patty, Universal Music Group chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge and more.
