Song Premiere: Cloned Apparition – “Holly Green”

Posted: by The Alt Editing Staff

Montreal based alternative rock band Cloned Apparition made their debut in February of last year with The Coming of Spring EP – a modern blend of brawny shoegaze and hypnotic post-grunge similar to up and coming acts like Day Aches, Kairo., and Siilk. Last November the release was followed by the heftier World Powered EP, and almost exactly one year later the band has signed on with Static Era Records (Clearbody, Splitview).

Their new single “Holly Green” takes inspiration from powerhouses like Hum and Failure and weaves a thick atmosphere of rhythmic melodies around Alice Hirsch’s efflorescent vocals and we’re excited to share the exclusive premiere before it’s official release tomorrow.

Vocalist Hirsch shares about the song that

“Holly Green” is a song about my late stepmother, named Holly, who passed away in 2018 from cancer. It’s a song about how grieving never heals, it simply hurts less and how things on a personal and global outlook seemed to have gotten worse since her passing hence lines like “the grass is greener on the other side” and “heaven’s only a mile away.”

Holly green is a shade of green that is pretty similar to that of grass or overall greenery. It’s a calming shade of green, not too loud and not too drab. My stepmother was really the source of calm in my life during tumultuous times and helped me through a lot, so the connection was made there and that’s why I chose that title.

Check it out below:

Cloned Apparition is Alec Turcot (Guitar), Alice Hirsch (Vocals), Tehotsenhàthe Lazare (Drums), Adam Setiawan (Bass).

Pre-orders for Spring Powered, a vinyl release featuring Cloned Apparition’s discography, are available through Static Era Records now.
