Video Premiere: Broadway Calls – “Dreamin’”

Posted: by The Editor

Broadway Calls should need no introduction. The Oregon punks formed over fifteen years ago and, after their third record Comfort/Distraction a decade ago, took a break—only to come back even better in 2020 with Sad in the City. They’ve been sporadically dropping music since, putting out a split with Countdown to Life and a single earlier this year. They’re currently working on their fourth album, but in the meantime we’ve got an exclusive premiere of the video for “Dreamin’.” The song’s pretty different from Broadway Calls’ usual fare, a stripped-down folk punk song that suggests a path for the band as an Americana act a la recent Menzingers and Spanish Love Songs material.

The track was originally released in April as the B-side to “A Little Shake,” and the trio has hinted that it’s slated to make their next LP in full band form, deeming this take the “Castle Rock Version.” For now, though, it’s a cool experiment for the band. Vocalist/guitarist Ty Vaughn says, “I had this sexy little song reminiscing about an old hotel.  We recorded the track at Josh’s house, and filmed the video at a cool looking motel that’s been part of the Longview skyline for as long as we can recall.  Folks familiar with our ‘Back to Oregon’ video will recognize the neon sign.”

Check out the “Dreamin’” video below.

California fans can catch the band’s weekend shows:

10/14 – Ukiah, CA @ The Thirsty Axe
