After reports surfaced Thursday (Feb. 9) that an alleged intervention for Britney Spears had been deemed “unnecessary,” the pop star spoke out on social media.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote that the reports of a planned intervention made her “sick to [her] stomach.”
“It makes me sick to my stomach that it’s even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died … I mean at some point enough is enough !!!” Spears wrote.
“I’m probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because even though I enjoy doing it, there’s obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well!!!” she continued.
Elsewhere in her post she referenced her husband Sam Asghari, writing, “As my hubby says it best: don’t believe everything you read!!!”
In a video posted later, Spears sarcastically said she “didn’t die, people, I didn’t die. I’m very much alive and well.”
“This week in the news it said that I almost died and that I have a manager and ‘doctors’!!! I don’t have a management team nor will I ever again in my life!!! I don’t have ‘medical doctors’!!! I take Prozac for depression and that’s about it!!! I’m an extremely boring person!!!” she wrote.
“It frustrates me to know that any news outlet would say any of this!!! It’s worse than a cruel joke because people actually believe this stuff and all of my efforts in getting better with my little routine of prayer and therapy seems to not count for anything when people can say things that are incredibly wrong!!!” the pop icon continued.
Yesterday, Page Six reported that an alleged intervention for the “Toxic” singer had been scrapped after it was deemed unneeded.
“Unfortunately, there is a lot of hysteria in the media right now, but Britney is fine, and much of this has been overblown and grossly distorted,” a source claimed.
TMZ reported that the intervention was supposed to take place earlier this week on Tuesday (Feb. 7).
The intention of the intervention was allegedly to try to convince Spears to stay at a rental house where she would receive “medical treatment and psychological counseling.”
Spears has been the subject of several headlines in the tabloids over the past few months.
In January 2023, police were called to her home for a wellness check after some fans grew concerned for the singer.
Days prior to the wellness check, Spears was filmed and harassed by patrons at a restaurant in Los Angeles.
The tabloids claimed that Spears was acting “manic,” however, footage captured didn’t appear to show that.
