Video Premiere: The Carolyn – “I Thought You Were Dead”

Posted: by The Alt Editing Staff

It’s a big day for The Carolyn. Today marks the release of their third LP Pyramid Scheme of Grief, their best work yet. The Atlanta punks have been sharpening their hooks for years and bringing in an array of new influences outside of the heartland-inflected punk they’re associated with. 2023’s Harmful History EP was a great bridge to the more nuanced, darker sound of Pyramid Scheme of Grief.

That sound is best exemplified in “I Thought You Were Dead,” a mid-tempo cut in the middle of the album, which the band calls “a standout track from our upcoming album Pyramid Scheme of Grief. It’s a meditation on loss, grief, and the haunting persistence of memory — delivered with the urgency of punk and the melodic weight of modern emo.” We’re excited to exclusively premiere the video for “I Thought You Were Dead” below.

Pyramid Scheme of Grief is out now.
