Chicago’s latest up and coming shoegaze act This House Is Creaking opened for Hotline TNT last month at Subterranean in the windy city’s posh Wicker Park neighborhood.
The band’s latest single, “2 LAMP (lava lamp),” flips a noise rock switch that’s become part of This House Is Creaking’s sound. I Want to Feel at Home Here, their July album, feels cohesive and propulsive, even despite its brief nine-track, 27-minute runtime. The title track descends into a storm of guitars as lyrics channel an inner rage: “There’s something that I want to talk about / I let it sit and eat away my brain / Connective tissue starts to break down / Leave me behind and let my past self rot away.”
The Chicago group also opened for Water From Your Eyes on October 2 in Chicago and will be opening for Delaney Bailey’s Midwest tour in November and December including stops in Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois.
