Singer-songwriter StevenCharles recently shared the music video for his latest single “My Destination.” The R&B singer reveals how he decided upon the aesthetics, “We found this space on Instagram and thought it would be a great idea to shoot the album art there. It’s basically my future self talking to my past self and that’s why we have the old school cassette vibes.”
The complementary visuals convey the song’s essence and uplifting energy. StevenCharles admits that he “…decided to incorporate dated technology to interplay with conceptions of time travel and discover what a message from the future looks like when it’s delivered in the past. The video is saying “look at how amazing life will get, (photoshoots, nice cars and outfits…etc) so don’t worry!”
“My Destination” is an inspirational track that encourages listeners to push themselves and become the very best they can be. It gives hope and confidence to trust in one’s own potential, “So I won’t wait/ For my joy to come/ I’m smiling(shining) today/ And although it’s taking/ Way too long to finally get/ To my destination/ My mind’s my creation/ No time to be wasted yea.”
StevenCharles is a triple threat who can act, dance, and sing. The multi-talented artist explains that telling stories through performance art is his calling in life, “Singing is the first love, Dancing is the liberating love and Acting might be the most personally rewarding love.” Despite his many talents, he’s currently 100 percent focused on his music career and cannot wait to release more inspiring tracks like “My Destination.”
