Song Premiere: Yon Loader – “The Doubt”

Posted: by The Alt Editing Staff

Yon Loader’s debut self-titled album drops next week, and we’ve already told you how much we love the previous singles. Today we’re excited to bring you an exclusive stream of Yon Loader‘s third and final single, titled “The Doubt.” It’s a lively, earthy slice of emo to bring the LP home in the back half. Yon Loader is one of the best albums of the year, and “The Doubt” is one of the best songs here. About the song, James Stutely shares,

The working title for this one was just “Doubt” but while choosing final titles it felt more appropriate to give it a “The.” It’s about the spectre of doubt that can come to dominate and compromise so many of our choices if we let it. Easy to get stuck taking the safe option! While that’s the context the song starts in, as it develops it moves on to those rare and fleeting moments when you stumble into being exactly where you want to be. And in those moments, free of doubt!

The band adds that, “For me, ‘The Doubt’ is the most kiwi-sounding song on the album–amalgamating Flying Nun and ’90s NZ alt rock with emo revival influences. With driving bass and drums, it sounds like New Zealand summer road trips!” Sounds good to me. Check out “The Doubt” below.

Yon Loader is out September 13th on Tiny Engines.
