Sofi Tukker is making the best of a tough situation by filling their quarantine time with daily DJ set livestreams. Each day at 1 p.m., the duo — Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern — have been beaming live from their studio, dropping tracks they hope will make you dance, as we collectively navigate the strange reality in which we find ourselves.
The “Quarantunes” playlist Sofi Tukker has assembled for Billboard is an extension of this uplifting energy, with these ace selectors assembling ten of their dancefloor weapons including remixes of Stormzy, The Knocks and, of course, themselves. Stream the playlist and get Sofi Tukker’s inside intel on each track below. .
[Editors note: You can hear The Knocks Feat. Kahlo, “Awa Ni” (James Hype Remix), Stormzy, “Vossi Bop” (James Hype Remix), DJ Maphorsa & DJ Shimza Feat. Moonchild Sannelly, “Makhe” at these individual links.]
Sofi Tukker, “Swing” (Crush Club Remix): We’ve been playing this one a lot in our 1 p.m. daily DJ sets. By our good friends Crush Club, it’s the perfect club track.
ANNA, “Bando”: This. Song. Is. Fire. Can’t believe we just discovered it. It’s going to be first in the set tomorrow.
The Knocks feat. Kahlo, “Awa Ni” (James Hype Remix): This is all-around our fam. We’ve toured with both the Knocks and Kahlo, and James Hype is on fire right now.
Stormzy, “Vossi Bop” (James Hype Remix): Speaking of on fire right now, this Stormzy remix is also a real crowd pleaser.
DJ Maphorsa & DJ Shimza feat. Moonchild Sannelly, “Makhe”: The vocal is so unique. We’ve been playing this one repeatedly in our sets too.
Sofi Tukker, “Purple Hat” (Dillon Francis Remix): This remix came out pretty much exactly when our quarantine started. We love Dillon.
Lunar Plane, “Olappa”: This song’s patience is great. We’ve been live looping some of our vocals on top of it and making it our own.
Rampa, Adam Port, &ME, “Muya”: In our live set today, Soph was playing around with the DJS1000 and played a guitar part on this that ended up feeling really good.
Agora Feat. STS, “Call of the Wild” (Glowal Wild Remix): This is simply the one. When you want to feel cool and tough even when you’re hiding in your house, listen to this.
Burna Boy, “Gbona”: To take a break from being at home, Soph has been going on bike rides and walks and listening exclusively to this song.
