Mahmood drops new single ‘Moonlight Popolare’ with Massimo Pericolo
Exactly a year after he finished as a runner up in Eurovision 2019, Italian pop star Mahmood is back with new music. The singer who reached the second place with ‘Soldi’, has been quite generous with releasing new music. His album Gioventù Bruciata came out around Eurovision last year and he gave us the brand new single ‘Barrio’s few months later. He started 2020 in a perfect way with the absolutely stunning ballad ‘Rapide’. He speeds up the pace on his new tune ‘Moonlight Popolare’, a collaboration with Massimo Pericolo.
Mahmood and Pericolo wrote the tune together with Francesco Barbaglia while Crookers signed for the production. ‘Moonlight Popolare’ sounds different from anything else Mahmood has done before, but at the same time fits right in with the aesthetic he has going on for him. The production is synth heavy in a way that almost throws it back all the way to the eighties, but at the same time the hip hop feel keeps things contemporary, making the rap verses blend in seamlessly with Mahmood’s characteristic vocals. As we are used to from him now, he serves catchy hooks in all the right places, making ‘Moonlight Popolare’ another highlight in his discography and undoubtedly another hit in his homeland.
