Massachusetts emo-pop band Cape Crush has been churning out sunny, effortlessly hooky tunes since their debut single in March 2023, and they’ve only gotten better since. Last year the band put out a split with Good June and Impossible Dog and the one-off “Blank Wall” single; last month they announced their debut full-length Place Memory with the excellent single “Calm and Delivered.”
Today we’re excited to premiere Place Memory’s second single, its title track. Built on a soaring riff, “Place Memory” is a driving, knotty ode to nostalgia and moving on. Vocalist Ali Lipman has called it “my favorite song on the album,” the one “that best encapsulates the overall sound of Place Memory.” Fans of Bleed American or Where the Heart Is will find a lot to love in Cape Crush’s approach, and “Place Memory” is a great introduction.
Check it out below.
Place Memory is out May 1 via Wanna Hear It Records.
