Pool Kids kicked off their headlining tour at Eastside Bowl’s ‘58 in Nashville, celebrating the release of their new record Easier Said Than Done. Just a month after the album’s release, the band already feels they’re hitting a new stride; not only is it their strongest album to date, but their live show has reached a new level of precision and energy.
Strong openers started the night: Toronto’s Pony, who brought a surge of catchy, fuzz-drenched indie rock, and Truth Club, whose melodic set laid the perfect groundwork for Pool Kids’ headlining performance.
What makes Easier Said Than Done stand out is how it bridges their evolution: from the math-rock roots of Music to Practice Safe Sex To to the refined polish of their self-titled album, they’ve now landed in a space defined by vivid storytelling. Each song reads like a self-contained scene, full of specificity that makes the record their most relatable and resonant yet.
That sense of clarity translated seamlessly to the stage. The band played with an almost telepathic synchronicity, while still radiating the kind of joy and looseness that makes them such so fun to see live. Opening with the “Tinted Windows” and closing on the sweeping finale of “Exit Plan,” the set captured the arc of the new record. And though the album is barely a month old, the crowd shouted back every word, filling the room with a communal energy that elevated the performance even further.
