First Aid Kit are having fans take shelter from the summer heat in sold out venues across the country. This tour not only promotes their latest album, Palomino, but also marks their first U.S. tour in six years. Despite the extended gap between tours, First Aid Kit took Boston’s 3500 capacity venue by force for a night to remember. Opening this tour was Canada’s The Weather Station. Singer Tamara Linderman powered through their 30 minute set while fighting a cold that at times made them stop and restart songs. The show must go on though and despite medical ailments, everyone in attendance adored their performance.
First Aid Kit took the stage at 9pm and kept the audience captivated for the entirety of their set. Starting with “Palomino” and “Angle” from their latest album, they had the crowd chanting back their catchy hooks in no time. Between songs, audience members could be heard shouting endless adornments. Before playing “Stay Gold”, they advised “if we mess up, it’s because we haven’t played this song live much before” but hit every beat seamlessly. Though First Aid Kit has a collection of albums to pull songs from, this did not stop them from playing a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird” mid set. It brought everyone back into focus and made those lingering by the bar rejoin the crowd. After performing a 15 song setlist, First Aid Kid exited the stage but it wasn’t long before returning for a four song encore. Included in this encore was a cover of Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” before closing the night out with “Silver Lining”. This was a remarkable performance on all fronts and we encourage everyone to see First Aid Kit at any of the remaining dates found HERE.
