Lewis Capaldi starts another stint at the top of the U.K. album chart, as Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (EMI/Universal) climbs 2-1, narrowly denying Selena Gomez a No. 1 with Rare (interscope/Universal).
The Official Charts Company reports that Capaldi's album beat Gomez's by just 637 combined units, although in starting at No. 2, Rare is still her best-performing set in the U.K. and her first top ten, either solo or with The Scene. Last week's No. 1, Storzy's Heavy Is The Head, falls to No. 3.
Ed Sheeran's No.6 Collaborations Project and Harry Styles' Fine Line (Columbia/Sony) are each down a place at Nos. 4 and 5, while British band Easy Life arrive at No. 7 with their mixtape Junk Food (Island/Universal). British cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who played at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in 2018, debuts at No. 8 with his second album Elgar (Decca/Universal). The album, which features the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, is the highest-placed ever by a cellist in the U.K.
Meanwhile, Stormzy's “Own It” (Merky/Atlantic/Warner), featuring Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy, starts a third week at the singles summit.
Stormzy's single stays ahead of Capaldi's “Before You Go,” which holds at No. 2, as Future's “Life Is Good” (Cash Money/Republic/RCA/Sony), featuring Drake, is the highest new entry of the week at No. 3. Dua Lipa's “Don't Start Now” (Warner) is down 3-4 and Roddy Ricch's “The Box” (Atlantic/Warner) is up 16-5. The Weeknd improves 10-8 with “Blinding Lights” (Republic/Universal).
