Dubai has been announced as the seventh host city for the massive Sept. 26 Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream event. The 10-hour, six-continent telecast, which is being billed as one of the largest live broadcast cause events in history will call on governments, philanthropists and the private sector to prode the $350 billion needed annually to achieve the goals to end extreme poverty, tackle climate change and reduce income equality by 2030.
The lineup for the Dubai event has not yet been revealed, but the first wave of performers and supporters for the five Global Goal Live events include: Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Cyndi Lauper, D'banj, Eddie Vedder, EXO, H.E.R., Janelle Monáe, Lizzo, Metallica, Miley Cyrus, Muse, Ozuna, Ozzy Osbourne, Pharrell Williams, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Shawn Mendes, Tiwa Savage, Usher and more.
"We could not be more excited to see Global Goal Live heading to Dubai, and for the campaign’s first ever live event in the Middle East,” said Hugh Evans, co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen in a statement. “Ending extreme poverty is a global effort, which will require input and advocacy from leaders across every continent. We are proud to count The Emirates as part of this movement."
The event in Dubai, which is being produced by The Emirates, joins previously announced events in New York's Central Park, as well as broadcasts from Lagos, Nigeria, Seoul, South Korean and cities in Latin America and Europe. Global Goal Live is in partnership with Teneo.
"Hosting Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream in September reflects The Emirates’ humanitarian efforts to eradicate worldwide poverty. The Emirates is pushing a transition in humanitarian efforts towards greater utilization of technology to empower communities driven by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum," said His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi in a statement. "Teaching 5 million young individuals how to code is the biggest worldwide project in its field; it’s a signal of support and hope from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to the world’s youth."
