The track is her first airplay chart top 10 since 2004.
Alanis Morissette makes a triumphant return to the top 10 of Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs radio airplay chart (dated Jan. 25), as "Reasons I Drink" bubbles up from No. 12 to No. 10.
Morissette scores her first top 10 on a radio-based tally since 2004, when "Everything" spent four weeks at No. 1 on Adult Alternative Songs, becoming her first leader on the list. It also reached No. 4 on the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart.
"Reasons" is Morissette's sixth Adult Alternative Songs top 10, a run that began with the No. 7-peaking "Ironic" in February 1996, shortly after the list's January 1996 inception and her commercial breakthrough with her album Jagged Little Pill, released in June 1995.
In addition to her career top 10 haul on Adult Alternative Songs, Morissette boasts eight top 10s on Adult Pop Songs (including two No. 1s); seven on Pop Songs (including four No. 1s); and four on Alternative Songs (including three No. 1s).
"Reasons" previews Morissette's first studio album in eight years, Such Pretty Forks in the Road, due May 1, and her 2020 tour, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of Jagged Little Pill.
The activity follows the Dec. 5 Broadway premiere, at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York, of the musical Jagged Little Pill, which reworks songs from the landmark set. The LP has sold 15.2 million copies in the U.S. since its release and ranks as the third-best-selling album since Nielsen Music/MRC Data began tracking U.S. sales in 1991.
On Dec. 12, Morissette received the Icon Award at Billboard's 14th annual Women in Music celebration, held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
