I love Garden Home’s Garden Home. Their first for emo bellwether label Thumbs Up Records is a perfect snapshot of what screamo is and can be in the 2020s. When I wrote about it back in April, I specifically pointed to the song “The Worst of It” as a highlight of the album, a great showcase of what makes the band so special. So you can imagine how stoked I was when the band approached us about premiering their new video for “The Worst of It.”
For their part, they seem to agree with my assessment; they chose to make a video for “The Worst of It” specifically because
The band felt this song was the best representation of our newest full-length record. It’s got a lil bit of everything that the entire album offers – dynamic, epic, crashing moments and heartfelt lyrics. The final call-out also really represents the rest of the album’s message: good comes with bad, vice versa, enjoy the ride. This video was also our largest production to date (credits below) and we’d really like to thank everyone involved in making it happen. The video itself is a one-take performance; the band displaying their live energy in full-force, while also featuring the floating frame that is represented on the front of our album.
The video features some great live footage of the band, and the hanging frames give it a cool vibe. It cuts between full-color and black-and-white over its four minutes, but Garden Home honestly look cool as hell either way. Check out “The Worst of It” below.
