After cutting their teeth in New York City, Miranda and the Beat fled the sceney, nepo baby HQ for swampy New Orleans. Their vengeant new single “Can’t Take It” seeks to set hegemonies on fire, then rise from the ashes with fiery compassion and smoky punk anthems. Members Miranda Zipse (vox and guitar), Dylan Fernandez (farfisa and guitar), and Alvin Jackson (bass) impressively wrote and recorded the song in just five days at King Khan’s Moon Studio in the German countryside.

On the writing and recording process, Miranda recounts King Khan “playing us some old King Khan and BBQ Show demos and we found a skeleton voice memo in which the phrase ‘can’t take it’ stuck out to us. The music to the song came super easily and by the end of the day we were all shouting ‘can’t take it’ at the top of our lungs. It was truly easy for all of us to act in this video because I was genuinely so hungover from our NYE party with Black Lips. I definitely felt like I ‘couldn’t take it’ doing 12 hours of Pilates.”

Miranda and the Beat’s second album Can’t Take It will be released October 25th. In the meantime, keep up with them on Instagram and stream “Can’t Take It” on all DSPs.

Can’t Take It is out October 25th through Ernest Jenning Record Co. and Khannibalism.
