The group has two albums in the chart’s top 10.
Herencia de Patrones debut at No. 2 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart (dated March 28) with Sorry for the Wait (EP). The norteño-urban ensemble’s second EP arrives with 3,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending March 19, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, most of which are attributed to streaming activity.
“We love what we do, and we always make sure we stay true to our style and give our fans something real,” founding member JayDee Orejel tells Billboard. “Many others are trying to copy it, but they can’t because we got sauce.”
Regional Mexican Albums ranks the most popular regional Mexican albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
Sorry registered 2,000 SEA units, which equates to 3.5 million on-demand streams for the set’s tracks.
The five-track EP, laden with high-pitched requinta guitar chords and street-life lyrics, was released March 13 via Lumbre/Rancho Humilde. It becomes Herencia’s second top five debut on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. Sorry follows Pa Las Vibras, the group’s debut studio album and first chart entry on any Billboard chart, which opened at No. 1 on June 2019 and took the crown for four weeks.
Notably, in its 42nd week on the tally — all of which have been in the top 10 — Pa Las Vibras still stands strong at No. 9 in the current chart week.
“It’s exciting to have two albums in the top 10,” Orejel adds. “I sing to motivate everybody to get the bag in their own way.”
Concurrently, Sorry arrives at No. 14 on Top Latin Albums, the trio’s second chart entry.
Herencia launched its career with the 2018 seven-track EP Clika Fija, which did not reach a Billboard chart.
