Olivia Rodrigo continued her tradition of Coachella surprises this weekend, joining Addison Rae on stage during the festival’s second weekend. The unannounced appearance saw the pop sensation team up with Rae for a rendition of “Headphones On” before delivering the live debut of her latest single, “Drop Dead.”
The moment occurred toward the conclusion of Rae’s set. As the singer reached the lyric “I compare myself to the new It Girl” in her track “Headphones On,” she paused to welcome Rodrigo to the stage, sparking a massive reaction from the crowd.

Following their duet, Rae stepped back to allow Rodrigo to take the lead. The singer utilized the platform to perform “Drop Dead,” the lead single from her highly anticipated upcoming album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, for the first time in a live setting.

While Rodrigo has yet to headline her own Coachella set, she has become a staple of the festival’s surprise guest list. In 2024, she famously joined No Doubt during their reunion performance to join the band on “Bathwater.”
“Drop Dead,” a track heavily influenced by The Cure, was officially released just days ago. Rodrigo shared her excitement for the song on social media, describing it as the “first chapter” in the story of her new era. The full album, which fans have dubbed GSIL, is scheduled for release on June 12 via Geffen Records. Before the album drops, Rodrigo is set to pull double duty as both the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 2.
