Blossoms Unveil New Single ‘Joke About Divorce’

Blossoms have officially signaled the start of a new era with the release of their latest single, “Joke About Divorce.” Produced by Shawn Lee, the track serves as the band’s first fresh material since the release of “The Honeymoon,” which appeared on the deluxe version of their acclaimed 2024 album, Gary.

The new offering finds the Stockport quintet in top form, delivering the kind of funk-inflected indie-pop that has become their signature. Frontman Tom Ogden explained that the lyrical inspiration stemmed from a real-life instance of misplaced levity during a domestic dispute.

“During every argument, no matter how big or small, there’s always that moment where humour could completely disarm you both and diffuse the whole thing,” Ogden noted. “On this occasion, I thought joking about divorce would do exactly that… I just got the timing completely wrong. Instead, it made things worse, and that moment ended up immortalised in a three-and-a-half-minute pop song.”

The accompanying music video further elevates the release, featuring actor Callum Scott Howells in the role of an eccentric compère, supported by a troupe of dancers in synchronized styling. The visual aesthetic complements the track’s rhythmic energy and Ogden’s narrative storytelling.

The release follows a busy start to 2026 for the group, who recently concluded a successful headline tour across Europe, with stops in Berlin, Paris, and Amsterdam. Looking ahead to the summer months, Blossoms are set to return to the UK festival circuit. Their upcoming schedule includes a headline slot at Neighbourhood Weekender and a highly anticipated appearance at Tramlines.
