Raveena Live in Chicago

Posted: by The Alt Editing Staff

Punjabi-American artist Raveena sold out Thalia Hall on May 10th, the evening of Mother’s Day.

Raveena, who has released three albums through independent record label Empire, was touring her 2024 album Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain. She, aptly, performed “Mama,” and did something she has routinely done on this tour: brought a couple on stage to swing and dance during “Smile for Me.”

She holds the title of being the first woman of Indian heritage to perform at Coachella and has collaborated with other  artists like Vince Staples and King Krule. Raveena’s music is guided by rhythm and blues, her art schooling, and her cultural background. But perhaps her largest inspiration is mother nature; she recently contributed to the United Nations’ second annual nature sounds mixtape, which donates a portion of streaming dollars (well, percentage of a cent per song) to EarthPercent, a conservation nonprofit.

Raveena’s tour runs through June 10; check for dates here.
