South Korean rapper-songwriter Zico returned on Monday (Jan. 13) with the release of his new bouncy, dancehall-infused new single "Any Song," on which he ruminates on the party of life.
A follow-up to the release of last year's Thinking, “Any Song” is a witty tune that acts as if a lyrical stream of consciousness, with Zico singing and rapping over the bouncy melody about the thoughts that flit through one's brain at a party or when listening to just "Any Song."
Fittingly, the song was released alongside a music video that features the star unwittingly hosting house party without meaning to, leading to him eventually feeling out of sorts. As the party winds down, he ends up dancing on his own with headphones over his ears, giving him his own little world as he listens to whatever song is playing, only for his friends to interrupt his alone time and sing him "Happy Birthday.” Zico ultimately turns his back on them and runs off, as if to seek his own happiness.
The release of “Any Song” precedes Zico’s upcoming King of the Zungle: Weather Changer concert series in Seoul next month, and spurred a viral "Any Song" challenge which saw the likes of popular South Korean celebrities such as Lee Hyori and Chung Ha jamming to the song.
