Not every song is made equal. Some will hit the spot on the first listen, others take many to really grow on you. Your impression of a song can depend on where you are, who you’re with, how you feel, the weather, and so many other factors. For me, the difference when listening to “Show Me” from TÂCHES feat. moodbymatteo & Benny Bridges was in listening on speakers versus listening on headphones.
And let me tell you… listening to this song on headphones is a holy experience.
I have fairly good speakers on my desk as a necessity for my job, but sometimes, nothing beats putting a couple cans over your head and closing your eyes and letting yourself be surrounded by sound. Such is the necessity with “Show Me,” the beginning of which makes significant use of panned claps, which just are not the same on speakers. From there, it’s all of the little things: the modulated vocals, the synth melodies and harmonies, the delicate bassline, the drums.
The whole experience is beautifully arranged, not for the main stage or those big festival moments, but for the quiet nights, the small rooms, the close friends. So sit down, put on some headphones, close your eyes, and hit play. You won’t regret it.
