And pick up a book — "even though I hate reading," Smith quips.
With people everywhere staying inside to help curb the spread of coronavirus, singer Sam Smith is checking in to make sure everyone’s doing all right.
On Wednesday (March 18), the “To Die For” singer posted a video on social media, taking a moment to talk directly to their fans about the scary times we’re living in. “This is a weird, weird, weird time,” Smith said, adding that they’re staying indoors not just to stay socially distant, but also due to a headache and some allergies. “I just wanted to reach out to every one of you and send my love. I really hope you’re OK.”
Smith urged their fans to take the threat of coronavirus as seriously as possible, saying that their actions could directly affect the health and well-being of the vulnerable around them. “I just want to really bring home and just say how important I think this time right now is for all of us to remain a unit and to look out for each other, especially for all the older people right now in the world,” Smith said. “I’m worried about my Nan and there’s so many people I’m worried about. We’ve just really got to look out for each other and be patient and be giving and share things.”
The singer encouraged fans to keep themselves busy while in isolation, whether through movies, television, music or even books — “Even though I hate reading,” they added. For their part, Smith said they’re going to do their best to keep fans entertained by posting videos of them singing.
“I’m going to sing and I’m going to play some songs and just record them, and hopefully we can all have a little sing-song together,” Smith said. “I think it would be really, really nice. I think we all need it and, you know, in a time like this, music is a really, really beautiful thing.”
