The “Old Town Road” rapper hit the couch on Monday night’s (Dec. 16) Chance The Rapper-hosted episode.
If you had told Lil Nas X at this time last year that he would be sitting on the couch next to Empire star Taraji P. Henson and laughing about that time his dad tried to slide into her DMs and showing off his diamond sales plaque for "Old Town Road," he would probably just laugh.
But there he was, one year and two weeks to the day that "Road" dropped, celebrating his six Grammy nominations with guest host Chance the Rapper.
"How does it feel? It still feels like everything else… it doesn't feel real," said the soft-spoken 20-year-old country MC, wearing a leopard print suit and black cowboy hat. "It hasn't sunk it yet."
When Chance marveled at "Old Town Road" reaching diamond status and the shelf of awards Lil Nas has already racked up, the rapper clarified that the giant plaque was his, but all those other awards belonged to legendary producer Quincy Jones, whose house he was visiting for the presentation.
Lil Nas also played a spirited round of "Nuzzle Whaaa?," where he and Henson tried to identify a gingerbread house and a reindeer. Chance's old pal Henson also described the time she met Lil Nas' dad at the BET Awards and they posed for a picture together. The rapper's dad joked that he tried to get Cookie's number. "He's going to go crazy when he sees you reading it because he loves you," Lil Nas told Henson.
