Kush K, a rising figure in Australian hip-hop, made his mark on the centre stage with his latest single and music video, “I Know“. Released via Type Shit Records, the track is an intense fusion of emotional storytelling, inspirational lyrics, and polished production.
The song starts with a soulful hook from JVS, whose euphoric vocals encapsulate fame, love, and self-discovery. Kush K‘s verse follows with uncut honesty, detailing how he went through his struggles. Lines like “Had some problems in the past, but I had to keep me moving” talk of his strength, which makes the song universally relatable.
The production is the standout of “I Know“. Sonni Beats’ production, coupled with the mixing by MixedByDaniel, allows the record to strike a fine balance between thumping beats and reflective lyrics. The mellow instrumentals provide an excellent background for the falsetto vocals of JVS and Kush K’s reflective flow. These touches of excellence make the single less of a drop and more of a statement record that showcases the artistic development of Kush K.
It is accompanied by a visually stunning music video shot by NBreezy. The video elevates the song’s storyline to the next level with rapid cuts between luxury fashion brands like Gucci and Fendi, high-end cars, and studio sessions. Melbourne’s lively cityscape serves as an apt background, juxtaposing the heights of success with its emotional toll.
