Karen Salicath Jamali Opens the Year With “Angel Sandalphon”

Karen Salicath Jamali released her new solo piano composition, “Angel Sandalphon (The Angel of New Beginnings),” on January 29 as her first single of the year.

For Salicath, the piece emerged before it was written. According to the composer’s own statement, the music came to her in a dream just before the New Year. She recorded it at dawn, early in the morning, as night gave way to day and birds began to sing. That liminal hour, fragile, hushed, and full of possibility, forms the emotional foundation of the composition.

“That moment, when night turns into day, carries a very special energy for me, and I wanted to capture that first breath, that clean freshness, in the sound,” Jamali shared.

The composition moves softly between memory and hope. Although anchored in the idea of a fresh start, the sound of “Angel Sandalphon (The Angel of New Beginnings)” carries a subtle nostalgia, presenting that renewal often arrives alongside reflection. Its melodies carry innocence and grace, offering a sense of protection and peace.

The title draws directly from spiritual symbolism. Angel Sandalphon is traditionally known as the angel of music and prayer, as well as the angel of new beginnings. Salicath channels that meaning into the composition’s flow, creating what feels like an emotional clearing.

Visually, the release is equally meaningful. The single’s cover art is one of Jamali’s original paintings, created specifically to represent Angel Sandalphon and the energy of a fresh beginning. For Salicath, sound and image are inseparable — parallel expressions carrying the same frequency.

This release introduces a new phase in her creative journey. “Angel Sandalphon (The Angel of New Beginnings)” is her first 2026 release in collaboration with EMPIRE and publisher KOSIGN, powered by Kobalt Music Group. With more than 10 million streams, a global audience exceeding 100,000 followers, and her album Dreams of Angels currently airing on WWBA Classical FM USA, Salicath enters the year grounded in resonance.

Karen Salicath Jamali opens 2026 the way the piece itself unfolds — quietly, and guided by clarity.
