Gentlemens Club Gives Marshmello's 'Tongue Tied' a Nostalgic Dubstep Remix: Listen

Who here remembers a decade ago when every song worth hearing got a dubstep remix? Gentlemens Club remembers, and the UK trio keeps that dream alive with a nostalgic bass remix of Marshmello's pop-punk-inspired "Tongue Tied" with Yungblud and Blackbear.

"As soon as we heard the original, we knew we had to pay homage to the 2010 UKF era of Dubstep that we all fell in love with," the group tells Billboard Dance in a joint emailed statement.

Bass fans may know the group from its wonky house collab "Get Widdit" on Jauz' 2018 LP The Wise and the Wicked. For this remix, the guys kept a gentle melodic intro to completement Yungblud's verses. The drop is where the early 2010s magic happens, a pulsing bass line that moves across octaves to hit the wub-wub sweet spot. The group says it hopes to transport listeners back "to the hay days of the Youtube Dubstep remix era."

Gentelmens Club remix of Marshmello's "Tongue Tied" is a nice reminder that one does not need give up the groove to go bang. It's out now as one in a five remix package, alongside a variety of bass sounds from Duke & Jones, PatrickReza, HiGuys, and Near x Far. The remix package is out now on Marshmello's Joytime Collective.
